We headed east at about 9:30 p.m. and drove all night to Kirtland Ohio. When we arrived we needed a place to eat and get ready for the day. We found this cute park and were surprised that we had stumbled upon the quarry where the stone used to build the Kirtland Temple had come from. We were able to walk in the same place where Joseph had worked as query foreman.
The game pieces on the checkerboard are pieces of corn on the cob:) All the kids thought that was really something.
This room was where the school of the Prophets was held. Jordan thought it was cool that it was the first MTC (missionary training center). Many revelations were given in the Newel K Whitney store. The tour guid talked about how the scripture "Stand ye in holy places" is often used to refer to the temple, and while that is a holy place, that scripture was given before the revelation about building the Kirtland temple. That reiterates that we can make many places holy like this room was and hopefully how we our making our own homes.

We learned what an "ashery" was and saw the sawmill. Ash was used to make china, gunpowder, soap, and medicine.
One of the main attractions there was the Kirtland Temple. Even though it is no longer owned by the church it is still a very spiritual experience to be in the first temple built by the latter-day saints during the restoration.
